Aaron Quigley at Melbourne Knowledge Week 2020

At this year’s Melbourne Knowledge Week, SIGCHI Melbourne co-organized a lecture series on ‘Interaction Futures‘. For this purpose, we managed to get support from the ACM to invite Prof. Aaron Quigley through the Distinguished Speaker Program to visit Melbourne. Aaron also found the time to give a seminar at Melbourne Uni and meet up with UX professionals over dinner.

Aaron is the Chair of Human-Computer Interaction and Director of Impact in the school of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

His talk on ‘Discreet Computing‘ addressed the intentionally unobtrusive. Aspects of wearable, invisible, ambient and ubiquitous computing are key as discreet computing, which is woven into the literal or figurative fabric of day to day life.

Aaron’s research interests further include novel and on-body interaction, global HCI, pervasive and ubiquitous computing and information visualisation on which he has an internationally accomplished researcher and speaker.

It was great hosting Aaron, thanks for stopping by Melbourne! And special thanks to the ACM and their Distinguished Speaker Program!
